The Roussillon terrace goes green

It had been in the pipeline since the planters were created, and planned for March. With the lockdown, we'd postponed it, and finally the landscaper offered to do it, with the barrier measures respected. So it's with a new terrace that we'll be able to welcome you.

Singular nature on Avenue Jean Jaurès

You'll have to be patient, but in a few years it'll be a pretty patch of greenery

To design this greening, we called on Quentin Comes of Tample Création in the Ardèche. Our wish was to create a stronger boundary between the road and the terrace, to make it more pleasant without hiding the restaurant. We also wanted some of the plants to keep their leaves even in winter (we already have the huge leaves of the trees in front to collect in autumn).

Quentin offered us a representation of the volumes with different heights so as not to create too strong a visual barrier. He took inspiration from Japanese gardens where minerals and plants showcase each other mutually.

Then, he made us a selection of plants suited to the climate, to the quantity of soil available, to our Japanese-style atmosphere and to our constraints in winter. Here they are below.

The implementation

We'd created the planters ourselves thanks to the advice of Jean-Christophe of the Sonnier company in Salaise-sur-Sanne: autoclaved pine rafters, slats to slot together right on the ground. We'd also designed a pergola but the Local Urban Plan didn't allow this construction and we had to remove it.

We therefore had to create a waterproof lining, drainage and fill the boxes. Various options were considered, finally settling on the installation of a Delta MS dimpled protection on the walls.

The filling and planting of the vegetation were finalised on Friday 17 April

SASU SAMMUT, a plumber in Chanas, made the connection with the automatic watering. We can't wait for it to grow. And the next step? The furniture, but we know it won't be used right away :(

The work on lighting will also come.

See you soon.
